The market is also optimistic about adding networking functions to chips. The so-called i-SIM or e-SIM is one of the solutions, integrating more components into the system-on-chip (SoC). In the future, the SIM card of existing mobile phones may be transformed into an i-SIM and placed in the mobile phone SoC. Whether it is placed in a mobile phone or other IoT device, it can be more secure and hidden than the existing physical SIM card, and it can also reduce power consumption and cost.


Industry insiders explained that i-SIM puts the networking function into the SoC, which will greatly reduce chip costs, and the prices of terminal devices will also drop, giving IoT devices an opportunity to increase penetration.


8K TV, the second device that makes 5G feel real
