Where is "Pin 1" of the connector? Master this method and it will be easy to determine~
Customers often ask us questions about the "Pin 1" or "Circuit 1" markings on receptacles and headers. Most of these markings can be found in the datasheet or specification sheet for the particular connector in question.
For example, the JST XA series terminal data sheet indicates the location of "Circuit 1" on the connector:
Additionally, many ribbon cable connectors will reference Pin 1 in their drawings or datasheets to indicate the orientation of the ribbon cable. Here is an example of Pin 1 designation for the CSC10S-ND from CW Industries :

Non-polarized connectors typically do not have a standard for pin 1 marking, so if pin 1 is not referenced in the data sheet, the customer needs to determine the pinout.
☞If you are unsure of the pin markings on your connector or need to confirm if there are any pin markings on a part, please leave a question below or post a discussion on Digi-Key’s forum and one of our technicians will be able to help you.
