Agenda
Topic introduction
Energy-Optimized On-Device AI Processing
Device-side AI processing is becoming more and more common in embedded devices, such as wearable devices, TWS, smart sensors, and smart electrical devices. For these devices, low power consumption and a certain amount of AI processing capabilities are crucial to extending battery life. In this online lecture, you will learn about the Tensilica NNE110 neural network engine, which is Cadence's first AI boost series product. Combined with the existing energy-efficient Tensilica DSP and software support for different software frameworks, the NNE110 provides an ideal AI solution for low-energy consumption, battery-powered applications.
Speaker: David Bell
Product marketing manager for Tensilica AI products at Cadence, has over 25 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. He joined Cadence after many years as an applications manager at Texas Instruments, supporting embedded Arm and DSP hardware and software products that serve industrial, automotive, communications, and other markets. Dave has been closely involved in the full SoC product development cycle from early specification through production in the final product.
IP Solutions Targeting Broad Range from Sensingto On-Device AI for Automotive Market Needs
In this online lecture, you will learn about the complete sensing and AI processing required on the device side of future vehicles. Different car subsystems require different AI requirements, and these requirements are constantly updated over time. Cadence will demonstrate how each perception application evolves to be combined with AI algorithms by citing some special cases. In addition, various algorithms are often used in pre-processing, inference and post-processing. Due to the rapid development of research on neural networks and different processing requirements, Cadence has also proposed a solution that combines hardware with programmability. Cadence will demonstrate how Cadence Tensilica DSP and device-side AI processor IP meet this need, including how to distribute AI processing to low-power programmable DSPs and AI accelerators. Finally, we will summarize the software tools and software framework support.
Speaker: Pulin Desai
Pulin Desai is group director of product marketing and management in Cadence’s IP Group. He is in charge of product marketing, management and business development of the company’s Tensilica® Vision DSP and AI IP product line. Vision and AI IP provides highly programmable, high-performance, low-power solutions for the embedded vision and AI applications in mobile, AR/VR, automotive, and surveillance camera markets. Desai brings more than 30 years of semiconductor marketing experience to his role. He has worked in the DSP, microprocessor, graphics, flat panel, image processor and sensor markets in product marketing/management and applications engineering capacities. He holds BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from San Jose State University.
Designing the Next Ultra-Low-Power
Always-OnSolution
Users increasingly expect the system to respond to their needs at any time, such as using voice control to play music. Traditionally system designers have relied on typical signal processing techniques on simple microphones to achieve these features. Nowadays, as more and more devices are equipped with cameras and other types of sensors, the need for "always on" functions is becoming stronger and stronger - no longer just waking up by voice, but when someone approaches, the smart phone The doorbell camera will wake up. This requires smart AI algorithms to reliably detect anything worthy of attention. At the same time, to achieve "always-on" functionality, these professional algorithms often must be implemented with extremely low power consumption, especially for battery-powered devices. In this online speech, you will hear our trend analysis on always-on features and applications. At the same time, we will also focus on how the newly added Cadence Tensilica processor products interpret low-power, always-on applications.
Speaker: Amol Borkar
Amol Borkar is the director of product management, marketing and business development for the Tensilica Vision and AI DSP product line in Cadence's IP Group. Since joining in 2018 as a senior product manager, he has led the development of many successful hardware and software products including Tensilica's latest Vision P1 DSP targeted for Ultra Low Power / Always-On usages. Within Tensilica, he has been responsible for partnerships, ecosystem growth for the Vision DSPs and outbound marketing activities. Previously, he was at Intel's RealSense group, where he held various positions in engineering through to product management and marketing and was responsible for the success of a number of RealSense's 3D cameras. Before joining Intel, Borkar was developing computer vision based Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS) algorithms for self-driving vehicles as part of this PhD thesis that resulted in numerous conference and journal publications for which he received the “Outstanding Researcher Award” in 2011 from Georgia Tech’s Center for Signal and Image Processing.
Cadence looks forward to welcoming you!
