To promote the city's innovation-driven development strategy, the construction of Chongqing and the UK's international collaborative innovation ecosystem has officially started
On November 15, the Chongqing-UK high-tech industry-university cooperation series of activities opened in Chongqing. The Chongqing Municipal Government and the Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the Municipal Economic and Information Commission, the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Joanna Roper, Acting Director of the UK Department for International Trade in China, and Cecille EI Beleidi, Consul General of the British Consulate General in Chongqing, Tang Chuan, District Mayor of Yubei District, and representatives of ARM China and its partners attended the event.
Witnessed by leaders of the Chongqing Municipal Government and the UK Department of International Trade, the Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the British Consulate General in Chongqing signed a memorandum of understanding on building the Chongqing-UK Innovation Platform, marking the official launch of the construction of the Chongqing-UK International Collaborative Innovation Ecosystem. The two parties will plan and build a Chongqing-UK International Collaborative Industrial Park of about 130,000 square meters in Xiantao Data Valley, committed to working together in high-tech industries such as IC design, 3D printing, human-machine intelligence (including virtual reality, unmanned driving, artificial intelligence, robots, etc.), big data, and nanotechnology, giving full play to the leading role of leading companies such as ARM, building the Chongqing-UK International Collaborative Science and Technology Innovation Center, incubation acceleration platform, industrial fund platform, R&D innovation platform, and technology skills platform, and building an international collaborative innovation ecosystem for integrated circuits and human-machine intelligence industries with ARM as the core. This cooperation project has a positive role and important significance in promoting Chongqing to implement the innovation-driven development strategy, accelerate integration into the global innovation network system, and build a science and technology innovation center in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River with high scientific and technological level and strong innovation capabilities and a national innovation-driven demonstration city.
At the same time, the first batch of British high-tech innovation projects such as Utter Berry, nCube Home, Reward Technology, Apta Cam, Those, and Digital Kinematics, which were jointly introduced by Yubei District, ARM, and Anchuang Space, came to Chongqing for roadshows and exchanges. The projects involved sensors, smart chips, wearable devices, digital new media devices, smart homes, digital content transmission, and other fields. Utterberry, Reward Technology, Microbit, Zhuhai Actions, Weizhou Technology and other scientific and technological innovation projects, together with China Mobile Internet of Things, ARM, and Anchuang Space jointly built a dual innovation base and signed a contract to land in Xiantao Data Valley. With the expansion and deepening of cooperation projects between Chongqing and the UK in the field of scientific and technological innovation, it will further promote the commercial application and industrial development of international innovation resources in Chongqing.
In addition, as an important part of the Chongqing-UK high-tech industry-university cooperation series of activities, ARM invited more than 100 experts from many universities and well-known companies such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Chongqing University, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Google, STMicroelectronics, Xilinx, Analog Devices, etc. to hold the ARM Ecosystem Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Annual Conference . This is also the first time that the annual ARM Education Annual Conference has been held in Chongqing. At the annual meeting, experts exchanged and discussed a number of topics such as industry-university cooperation, talent training, and dual-innovation education in emerging industries and technology fields such as big data, cloud computing, smart hardware, and the Internet of Things, providing inspiration and ideas for Chongqing to cultivate key innovative and entrepreneurial talents in the big data and human-machine intelligence industries. The Chongqing ARM Ecological Integrated Circuit Talent Training and Industry-University-Research Collaborative Innovation Alliance also signed a memorandum of understanding with Anxin Education on talent training to jointly promote the implementation of ARM smart interconnection technology talent training in Chongqing.
Overview of Xiantao Data Valley
Xiantao Data Valley is a big data industrial park that was established to adapt to the rapid rise of the global big data and smart hardware industries. It is committed to cultivating and developing big data and cutting-edge human-machine intelligence industries and building an internationally competitive innovation ecosystem. It was approved by the Chongqing Municipal Government to start construction in April 2014. It has a planned area of 1.77 square kilometers, a total construction scale of approximately 1.6 million square meters, and an estimated static construction investment of approximately 12.7 billion yuan.
At present, Xiantao Data Valley has initially formed a competitive "3+8+N" innovation ecosystem with intelligent hardware as hardware, artificial intelligence as the core, and the next generation of communication technology as support. First, the direction of innovation industry, focusing on the three core industries of data perception, storage, and mining and analysis, focusing on the development of emerging industries such as big data, cloud computing, and human-machine intelligence; second, through the eight public technology support platforms of consumer behavior survey database, mobile computing solution platform, intelligent prototype production platform, intelligent voice recognition system, appearance design platform, intelligent prototype marketing platform, full set of 3D printing platform, and robot image chip design platform, provide collaborative linkage innovation services; third, build an international collaborative incubation mechanism and create a regional collaborative innovation incubator. Jointly with internationally renowned incubators such as Plug&Play, Issidery, and Anchuang Space, we will create a "4.0 version" international collaborative incubation mechanism; fourth, build a talent training platform to gather innovative talents in the big data industry. Relying on the Big Data Academy under construction, we cooperate with ARM, Microsoft, Cloudera, Google and Flex to carry out cutting-edge technical talent training and certification, project training, etc., to fully cover the technical talent needs at all levels in cutting-edge fields such as big data and smart hardware, and create a world-leading and internationally influential smart hardware and big data talent training base.
At present, Xiantao Data Valley has built and put into use commercial buildings of about 160,000 square meters, and about 1.5 million square meters of buildings are under construction. It has successfully introduced 176 world-renowned multinational companies and high-tech innovative enterprises such as Qualcomm, ARM, Microsoft, Google, Plug&Play, Acer, BGI, iFlytek, IZP, and Qianbao. It is expected that by 2020, Xiantao Data Valley will introduce 30 leading enterprises, 300 core enterprises, 100 headquarters registered enterprises, realize 20,000 employees in the park, and realize an overall output value of 100 billion yuan.
