The 9th Power Distribution Technology Application Forum with the theme of "Using new power distribution technologies to build smart distribution networks" opened at the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center on Thursday morning. ADI's innovative power technology


Low EMI Switching Power Supply


Power products are paying more and more attention to EMI. In order to reduce system noise and interference, ADI has launched a series of Silent Switchers. According to Lorry's on-site introduction, the efficiency of ADI's Silent Switcher2 products can reach 93%, meeting the CISPR25 Class 5 EMI indicators. For example, the LT8609 in this series of products can also achieve very low EMI performance even if only a simple 2-layer board is used.




High current supercapacitor


The LTC3350 is a very typical supercapacitor management application product that includes all the functions necessary to form a complete, independent, capacitor-based backup power solution.


The LTC3350 provides comprehensive voltage monitoring, active balancing, capacitance detection and ESR measurement for four strings of supercapacitors, and can be monitored in real time through the digital communication port.


For typical backup power applications, Lorry introduced the supercapacitor charger LTC4041 and the battery backup IC LTC4040. Both are used as backup power systems. Which one should I use? Lorry gave a comparison chart to help everyone make a choice easily.


Isolated power supply without optocoupler and feedback


ADI's isolated power supply solution does not require optocouplers and feedback, and samples the isolated output voltage directly from the primary side flyback waveform. This series of products does not require a third winding or optical isolator to achieve regulation. The output voltage is set with a single external resistor. Internal compensation and soft start further reduce the number of external components. Boundary mode operation provides a small magnetic solution with excellent load regulation performance. Low ripple burst mode operation maintains high efficiency under light load conditions while minimizing output voltage ripple.

For the increasingly popular high-voltage capacitor voltage division power supply method, the LT8316 has an extremely wide input voltage range (18V-620V), which allows for the flexible design of isolated power systems with output powers up to 80W in different power transmission and distribution systems.





Highly integrated power module


In order to make highly integrated power products, small size, thinness and high current of circuit boards are key directions.


"A good power module allows product design engineers to focus on system-level design instead of spending time adjusting a complex power system. " Lorry said this is the key point of the power module. He gave the example of a system IO and core power supply system in the figure below, which successfully saved 30 to 100 times the number of components, and the reliability of the entire system will also be improved.

At the 9th Power Distribution Technology Application Forum, ADI also set up a booth to showcase the latest products and solutions that can be used in power transmission and distribution systems.

The LT8645S synchronous step-down regulator uses a second generation Silent Switcher architecture designed to minimize EMI/EMC emissions and provide high efficiency at high switching frequencies.

The ADE9078 is a highly accurate, fully integrated electrical energy metering device. By interfacing with current transformers (CTs) and Rogowski coil sensors, the ADE9078 enables users to develop a 3-phase metering platform that can achieve high performance for Class 1 to Class 0.2 meters.

[Reference Design - Smart Energy Harvesting and Low Power Fault Indicator Design] ADI's highly integrated solution is extremely beneficial for compact layout, reducing design complexity, and the industry-leading ultra-low power performance enables the power consumption of the entire system signal chain to reach a historical low.

The LTC3350 is a backup power controller capable of charging and monitoring a series stack of four supercapacitors . The LTC3350's synchronous step-down controller drives an N-channel MOSFET to achieve constant-current/constant-voltage charging with a programmable input current limit.
