Contour-based image retrieval: A retrieval strategy based on contour and texture segmentation for multi-texture images is proposed. First, the contours of each texture primitive in an image are extracted, the Fourier shape descriptor of the contour is calculated, and the contours are clustered and grouped according to the shape descriptor. At this time, the original image is segmented into several groups of texture primitive contours with different shapes, and the Gabor wavelet transform is used to extract the features of each group of texture primitive contours, so that the original image is represented as a feature point set in the Gabor wavelet feature space. Finally, the improved Hausdorff distance that is insensitive to noise is used to calculate the distance between each feature point set, so that the retrieval of multi-texture images can be achieved. Compared with existing methods, experimental results show that this method has better retrieval accuracy. Keywords: contour; multi-texture; Fourier transform; Gabor wavelet; Hausdorff distance
