In view of the shortcomings of traditional Internet in traffic engineering and the increasing demand for traffic engineering from new services, this paper analyzes the application of DiffServ in MPLS traffic engineering, introduces in detail the two bandwidth limitation modes in implementing DiffServ traffic engineering - MAM and RDM, and proposes a new bandwidth constraint model SAM from the perspective of reducing the system cost for preemption and rerouting. By comparing their management, efficiency and other aspects, the applicable scopes of MAM, RDM and SAM are obtained. Keywords DiffServ, MPLS, Traffic Engineering, Bandwidth Constraint Abstract The bandwidth constraint mechanism and available range in DiffervMPLS traffic engineering will be discussed. A new bandwidth constraint mechanism SAM will be presented in order to reduce system cost for preemption and rerouting. This model will be compared with other two mechanism-MAM and RDM.Keywords DiffServ, MPLS, Traffic Engineering, Bandwidth Constraint
