Embedded system design based on such processors will involve many special issues, and reset circuit design is one of them. According to the structure and characteristics of the reset module of MPC8xx series processors, this paper introduces the reset circuit design method of embedded systems based on MPC8xx series processors, and gives practical circuits. Embedded Processor Power PC PowerQICC MPC8xx Reset Circuit Reset Source Among these reset sources, the power-on reset signal (PORESET) is the system startup initialization reset signal, which comprehensively and systematically resets all logic units and modules in the processor, and provides HRESET and SRESET to the outside; the external hardware reset signal (HRESET) will initialize the internal logic, as well as the configuration of the memory controller, system protection logic unit, interrupt controller and parallel I/O pin signals, and the hardware reset caused by the internal hardware reset source will also provide the HRESET signal to the outside, and when HRESET is valid, SRESET must also be valid; the external software reset (SRESET) will also initialize the internal logic, but retain the system configuration information (including system interface unit pin configuration, parallel I/O configuration and memory controller configuration, etc.), and the software reset caused by the internal software reset source will also provide the SRESET signal to the outside, so the SRESET pin signal is also bidirectional. In addition, when the debug port receives a hard reset or soft reset request from the development tool, the MPC8xx processor will start the internal hard reset or soft reset process, and the development tool must reconfigure the debug port after the reset.
