DIY a curtain automatic opening/closing device

The circuit of this device is shown in the attached figure.

1. Working Principle

1. When timer 1 is turned on, the motor starts, the curtains close, and the curtains reach the end, the normally closed point of travel switch 1 is disconnected, and the normally open point is closed, and the next set of curtain boxes begins to close. In this way, multiple curtain boxes can be opened.

2. When timer 2 is turned on, the motor runs, the curtain opens, and when the curtain reaches the end, the normally closed point of travel switch 1 is disconnected, the normally open point is closed, and the next set of curtain boxes begins to open. In this way, multiple sets of curtain boxes can be controlled.

2. Advantages

Only two capacitors are needed to open and close all motors, that is, capacitors connected in parallel to the output of the timer, which reduces the cost. Each curtain box only needs one forward and reverse motor and two travel switches. The timing time is determined according to the total opening (closing) time of the curtain group. If 2 minutes and 30 seconds are required, the timing can be 3 minutes.

3. All components

1. 2 timers (only one is needed for dual timers) 2. 2 capacitors, which must match the forward and reverse motors. 3. Forward and reverse motors, 2 per curtain box, including closing and opening, with one normally closed point and one normally open point.

The curtains can be timed according to daily needs, either early or late, which is very convenient. The author has used this device for more than a year without any problems. If the curtains are temporarily closed or opened, they can be manually controlled by the timer, or a switch can be connected in parallel to the timer to manually control the closing and opening of the curtains.

In addition, this device can also play an anti-theft role. When the curtains are closed, thieves will think that there is someone at home and dare not break in rashly.
