On July 23, the "software" part of the "15th Five-Year Plan" major national science and technology project "Ultra-large-scale integrated circuits and software" was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and officially launched.

　　The software industry is an important strategic high-tech industry and has become the commanding heights of the world in the new round of international competition. Independently developing the core platform of network software, including system software, is a strategic choice for my country's software industry to participate in international competition on an equal footing and achieve the goal of becoming a software power by 2010.

　　The overall goal of the software project is to develop my country's independent network software core platform, including system software (operating system, database management software), middleware platform and major application software, significantly increase the ownership of independent intellectual property rights, improve the productization and commercialization of network software core platform, and improve my country's independent software system.

　　The national government allocated 600 million yuan for this special project, including 250 million yuan for operating systems, 200 million yuan for database management systems, 100 million yuan for major application common software and demonstrations, and 50 million yuan for software technology standards system and software technology innovation system.
