Data released by the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance shows that as of September 2024, the total number of public charging piles in China has reached 3.329 million, but the growth rate has slowed significantly compared with the same period last year. In some areas, the number and quality of public charging piles still cannot meet the rapidly growing demand for electric vehicles, especially in first-tier cities, where the frequency of use of charging facilities has increased significantly, but the shortage of public charging piles has affected the user experience of new energy vehicles, including the problem of slow charging. This problem directly interferes with consumers' car purchase decisions.

Choosing charging cables with high conductivity and good quality can reduce energy loss during charging and improve charging efficiency.

From a hardware perspective, increasing power is probably the most effective way. For example, the various charging methods mentioned above range from 18W, 24W to 48W for fast charging, and now 80W is coming out. They are all increasing power. The same is true for car charging piles. They are all charging~

The next step is to optimize hardware equipment, improve efficiency and reduce losses. However, I feel that unless there is a very big breakthrough in chips or materials, there won’t be much improvement.

Cost is still a consideration. I don't know if there are any other ways to improve the efficiency of the existing charging piles besides replacing them.
