I would like to ask about the use of microPython on domestic chips [Copy link]

Hey guys, the group company has issued a document requiring all R&D and production equipment to be equipped with domestic chips. There are several devices developed by me that use ESP32+MicroPython. I checked, but I don't understand whether Espressif is a Chinese company and whether its chips are domestic chips?

Can you guys recommend any Chinese chips that can use MicroPython? Because of my limited ability, I can't adapt it myself, so I want to ask if there are any Chinese alternatives with better adaptation and complete documentation. Thank you.

It's from Espressif Shanghai.

Espressif Technology is in Shanghai, but it seems to be a foreign-funded company, so I don’t know, is a foreign-funded company still considered domestic? [attachimg]688825[/attachimg]  Details Published on 2023-4-7 09:32

Domestic refers to things produced in the country. For example, in China, products with the words " Made in China " or "made in China" are called domestic. However, with the deepening of economic globalization , the concept of domestic has changed. In the mobile phone and automobile industries, domestic refers to products that are independently developed, produced and manufactured in China, or products with more than half of their components being domestically produced.

Espressif Systems is a company headquartered in Shanghai, China. China is its R&D focus and management functions are also in China. It is a listed company on China's Science and Technology Innovation Board.

This domestic substitution is actually very confusing and difficult to define. Does it count if the IP is used? Does it count if the development tools are from others? Does it count if the fab is from others? Does it count if the plastic material package is from others? I think this is a manifestation of laymen guiding experts.

The LD layer patted its head and said that domestic substitution is essentially the same as the iron smelting in the 1950s. They are all doing one thing. Basic science has been left there for 20 years without anyone paying attention. It's unfortunate, but there is nothing they can do, and they even want to make a fortune.
