I saw a student dormitory surveillance system made by a netizen in the Digi-Key competition, and I was impressed that the netizens in the forum are really amazing. I have been struggling with the camera at home for a long time these days.

When installing the surveillance cameras around the house, according to the needs, the two cameras are facing each other, that is, one facing north and the other facing south. This state is fine during the day, but problems arise at night. The cameras have an automatic fill light function. Once the fill lights of the two cameras are turned on, nothing can be seen. As shown in the following figure:

There was no other way but to think of a solution. I searched the management app but couldn't find where to adjust the fill light. Later, I consulted the customer service and found out that I needed to connect the computer and camera directly and then set it up. So the question is, how to connect directly? The logical thing is to connect the network cable connected to the camera to the computer. I searched around with the IP search tool ipconfig provided by Dahua, but I couldn't find it. Later I found out that the camera is POE powered, so the power supply part needs to be connected to the power. What I just did was equivalent to cutting off the power to the camera. So I connected the camera to the network video recorder. I made an Internet cable to connect the network video recorder and the computer.

Then I need to find the IP address of the camera. I was confused by the tutorials online, and asked Dahua customer service. Dahua customer service suggested to search with ipconfig. In fact, the simple way is that there is a network management part in the camera management background, and you can directly see the IP. After getting the IP, I set the computer's LAN IP, gateway, etc. After that, I can access the IP address of the camera through the computer web page. At that time, I felt like I had found a treasure when I could open the management interface. I felt that, well, it was done, and the dawn was just around the corner. I found the fill light option, clicked it, turned it off, and waited to see the effect at night. I thought that this background was quite convenient and could turn off the fill lights of all cameras at once. As a result, at night, there was a problem again. It was clearly set that the fill light of A was turned off, but the fill light of B was turned off. Because there was no comparison, A's fill light appeared brighter. Later, my family reminded me that each camera must have an independent IP, not accessing an IP address as I thought, and everything was done. But when I opened other IP addresses, the web page could not be opened. I was also a little dizzy. Later my sister changed the camera mode to full color. The image was very grainy, but at least the lights were off.

I thought this could work, but I was still a little bit unwilling to give up. So I searched online and found that Dahua camera direct connection settings are friendly to WIN7, but WIN10 and other systems cannot connect. I thought this might be the problem. I plan to take my antique computer home and try it again. Haha

Debugging is really not easy, especially when there is a lack of knowledge.
