Russia's self-developed CPU exposed 48 cores based on ARM architecture [Copy link]

Nowadays, more and more countries are beginning to pay attention to self-developed chips. After all, no one wants to be strangled. Baikal Electronics is a Russian technology company that has launched a processor model called "Baikal" with 48 physical cores. Of course, this processor is aimed at the server field and has little to do with ordinary users.

In fact, this processor was exposed as early as the end of last year, and it was already lit up at that time. Now, chip master Fritzchens Fritz has released several core photos and kernel photos of this processor. From the photos, we can see that this processor uses LGA packaging, and some friends may think of Intel processors when they see the back.

The front PCB substrate is very clean, with only a few capacitors, but the core is also very clean, without any silkscreen markings.

This processor uses TSMC's 16nm process, and the core area is about 607mm2. It uses the ARM A75 public version architecture and has a maximum main frequency of 2.5GHz. It supports up to 4 channels, which means that a system can provide up to 192 cores. In terms of performance, it is close to the Xeon Gold 6148, which is a 20-core processor.

I support the development of Russia's chip industry and hope that the manufacturing of new domestic chips will catch up as soon as possible. Come on!   Details Published on 2022-10-19 14:46

In recent years, our domestic chip industry has also been breaking through monopolies and sanctions. The process is poor, there are talented people, but the equipment is limited.  Details Published on 2022-10-19 12:35

The current situation in China is that the design is OK, but the manufacturing is not. SMIC has become the ceiling of China. In recent years, the domestic semiconductor industry has developed rapidly, and a group of opportunistic companies have emerged, buying foreign bare chips, packaging them and putting their own labels on them.  Details Published on 2022-10-19 12:46
