Static electricity [Copy link]

Why do I get an electric shock when I touch the car door when there is static electricity? Aren't tires insulated?

For electronic products, where should I make changes in the circuit to pass the static electricity test?

Why capacitors cannot replace ESD

The electric shock is caused by the existence of electric current. The charged conductor will discharge to the uncharged conductor or the conductor with opposite polarity. Think about the "like charges repel each other" between charges.

As for ESD protection, this is a big topic and must be considered in conjunction with specific circuits. At your current stage, you should first lay a solid foundation and do not blindly touch areas that do not match your current abilities, otherwise the disadvantages will outweigh the advantages.

"Why do I get an electric shock when I touch the car door when there is static electricity? Aren't tires insulated?"

Because the tires are insulated, the metal body and the ground form a capacitor. The so-called static electricity is the capacitor between the metal body and the ground being charged. When you touch the car door and get an electric shock, it is the capacitor that is discharging.

Because of the friction between clothes and other objects around, people will carry a certain amount of charge, which forms static electricity. Static electricity usually forms a relatively high electromotive force, which is why people experience static discharge when they touch other objects. Although the electromotive force is high enough to produce sparks when discharged, the current is not large and will not cause any harm to people. For electronic products, all electrodes that can contact the outside world, such as pins on connectors, are places where the influence of static electricity should be considered.

This is equivalent to two large capacitors. After being insulated, they can store more energy. When they are close to each other, a channel for releasing energy appears, and discharge occurs.

Electric charge will accumulate only when the tires are insulated. It is recommended to add conductive tape, otherwise it will be dangerous to refuel in winter.
