Encoder model [Copy link]

This post was last edited by zk643 on 2021-11-18 16:26

Does anyone know about encoders? I removed two rotary encoders from an oscilloscope. They look exactly the same, except that one has a cycle position and the other does not. After I took them apart, I found that they are not the same inside. I want to buy these two online but I don't know which model to choose.

The knob encoder on the oscilloscope is not necessarily universal. 24 represents the resolution of the encoder, that is, the number of pulses that can be generated per rotation, which is generally more than 4 lines: One common line, one "push button" switch line, and the other two are A and B for the encoder. Although the encoder is 24 bits, it can actually be used as 48 pulses due to different algorithms, but the actual accuracy is still 24P/R. There are many on the Internet, usually 3-5 yuan each, and you just need to choose the connecting thread diameter, number of pulses and shaft length.   Details Published on 2023-9-10 11:34

Let's see which oscilloscope it is.

The rotary encoder on the oscilloscope is not necessarily universal.

I bought one online and it has the same dimensions as mine, also with three legs, but it is marked as 24-bit. I can't figure it out.  Details Published on 2023-9-10 11:34

I just looked at the encoder selection online, and there are quite a few things to pay attention to:

What should I pay attention to when selecting a rotary encoder ?

1. When selecting a suitable rotary encoder, you must consider the allowable cost of the product, whether the origin can be reset when the power is turned on, the control speed, anti-interference, etc.

2. When selecting a rotary encoder, consider the accuracy of the resolution. Choose the most suitable model based on the required accuracy of the assembled mechanical device and the cost of the machine. Generally, choose a resolution of 1/2 to 1/4 of the comprehensive mechanical accuracy.

3. When selecting a rotary encoder, consider the size of the space and the state of the shaft selected according to the installation space (hollow shaft, rod shaft type)

4. When selecting a rotary encoder, you need to consider the allowable shaft load, the different shaft load states for different installation methods, and the life of the machine.

5. When selecting a rotary encoder, the maximum allowable speed must be considered and the selection should be based on the maximum mechanical speed during use.

6. When selecting a rotary encoder, the maximum response frequency should be considered, which is determined by the maximum speed of the assembled mechanical device. Maximum response frequency = (speed/60) x resolution

7. When selecting a rotary encoder, you need to consider the protective structure. The selection of the protective structure should be based on the degree of dust, water, oil, etc. in the use environment.

Dust: IP50

Water, oil: IP52 (f), IP64 (f) (drip-proof, oil-proof)

8. When selecting a rotary encoder, you need to consider the starting torque of the shaft. You need to know clearly what the torque of the driving source is.

9. When selecting a rotary encoder, you need to consider the output circuit mode. You need to consider the connected downstream machine, signal frequency, transmission distance, noise environment, etc. When transmitting over long distances, you need to choose a line exciter.
