At the beginning of this year, a large-scale power failure occurred in Texas, and large areas of the country were hit by a power outage.

Nowadays, human life is very dependent on electricity, whether it is daily work, entertainment, life, and every aspect. So what should we do if there is a power outage one day? Will it be a disaster?

A large-scale power grid failure is catastrophic. It is difficult to survive in the city. The best way is to go to the countryside.

Below I list the impacts of a city power outage.

1. When there is no electricity in the city, almost all transportation will be affected, including airplanes, high-speed trains, railways, subways, and buses (all of which are now powered by new energy batteries).

2. There are no traffic lights and no mobile phone communication, so there will be huge traffic jams on city roads. Then you can't leave the city by driving an ordinary car.

3. There was no electricity, no lighting, no water, and I couldn't go to the toilet in two days. There was no signal on my cell phone, so I couldn't call the police or ask for help.

At this time, a motorcycle with a fuel drum is the best means of transportation. Go to the countryside, as long as you have water, firewood, rice and vegetables, you will not starve to death. Wait for the power to be restored. For backup power, I recommend solar panels + intercom + rechargeable batteries + flashlight + radio.

  At around 17:18 on January 19, 1996, a crane operated illegally by Shougang Company caused the generator set of Beijing No. 2 Thermal Power Plant to shut down, and the local power grid connected to 18 substations collapsed.
  That night, Xinhua News Agency broadcast the news to the world: a large-scale power outage occurred in western Beijing. The accident caused relatively serious consequences: the computer networks of the State Planning Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the National Information Center, and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China stopped operating for a time. Some programs of the Central People's Broadcasting Station and Beijing People's Broadcasting Station were suspended; the subway was paralyzed, and the four subway trains parked in the tunnel had more than 2,000 passengers. The tram stopped on the road, and the elevator stopped halfway; the equipment of many hospitals such as Fuwai Hospital, Fuxing Hospital, and Children's Hospital stopped working; Fuxing Commercial City , Xidan Shopping Mall , Chang'an Shopping Mall, etc. urgently evacuated customers; from the Shougang compound in Shijingshan in the west to Qiansanmen in the east, including Xidan, Fuxingmen, Gongzhufen and other large areas were shrouded in darkness; due to the shutdown of the No. 2 Thermal Power Plant, more than 3 million square meters of heating area stopped heating.
  The large-scale power outage caused by the "1.19" accident was disastrous for large cities and caused huge losses.
  When the "1.19" power outage occurred, the Beijing Municipal Government took emergency measures, and the public security, subway, hospital, bus, shopping mall and other systems took emergency actions. The power outage did not cause social shocks, no riots occurred, and no one died. The citizens of Beijing showed good quality and self-control. After emergency repairs by the power department, power supply was restored to all power outage areas two hours later.
  However, this sudden accident also exposed many problems. The generator of a hospital had not been maintained for a long time and was not started until more than 20 minutes later. A sightseeing elevator was forced to stop between 233 meters and 245 meters because they had no backup power supply.

You must have a radio at home that can be used in an emergency. A small radio that can receive FM and AM will do. It doesn't need to be large or advanced. It's best to use No. 5 batteries. There are not many things to brag about, and almost everything is available: solar panels, DC/DC converters (with MPPT function), batteries (ordinary car batteries are fine). You may need to make the switching circuit yourself, the structure is not complicated, but you must be able to handle at least tens of A of current. The public security officers were waiting outside the meeting room with handcuffs: "The public security officers don't know who is responsible. Find the responsible person and we will handcuff him immediately." The administrative and technical leaders of each unit argued fiercely at the meeting, and several chief engineers had heart attacks and were carried out of the meeting room and sent to the hospital by ambulance.

In the end, the police only arrested two people from Shougang: one was the crane driver and the other was the driver's assistant.

You may need to make the switching circuit yourself. The structure is not complicated, but you must pay attention to the fact that it must be able to handle a current of at least tens of A.

To power ordinary household appliances, you need to connect an inverter to output AC power.

If you want to connect to the grid to transmit electricity, it will be more troublesome and you have to consider the grid-connected circuit.
