TIOBE Index for July 2021 [Copy link]

The TIOBE Index is turning 20 this month. Back in 2001, the first TIOBE Index was published as a personal hobby project to understand what people were looking for in programming languages. The top 3 of the first TIOBE Index were Java, C, and C++. Today the story looks strikingly similar, with the top 3 programming languages now being C, Java, and Python. Interestingly, these 3 languages are closer than ever. The difference between the first and third position is just 0.67%. This means the next few months are going to be exciting. What language will win this battle? Python seems to have the best chance of becoming number one, thanks to its market leadership in the booming data mining and artificial intelligence sectors. Other interesting moves this month are: C++ grew by more than 0.5% and is getting closer to the top 3, Go language moved up from 20th to 13th, Rust from 30th to 27th, TypeScript from 45th to 37th, and Haskell from 49th to 39th.
