TIOBE Index June 2022: C++ is about to surpass Java [Copy link]

Java seems to be on the losing side. In April 2020, Java was still the number one in the TIOBE index. In the same month, Java had to give up the number one spot to C. Later, in 2021, Python was unstoppable and also surpassed Java. Now it looks like C++ is the next language to surpass Java. High-level programming with high performance is the key reason why C++ performs so well. The C++ language is revised every 3 years. Such revisions contain groundbreaking new features that put the language on par with C# and Java, but without the performance penalty of the garbage collector. Let's see where C++ will go in the coming months. - Paul Jensen, CEO of TIOBE Software

Python should occupy the first place for some time to come.

Looking at the industry applications, it seems that C++ will be popular for a while and has a long-term trend of being popular.

C++ will remain popular for a while, and in the long run, Python should catch up, but it’s hard to say.

I've been picking up C++ again recently. I used the 98 standard for many years, but I haven't used the new standards 11 and 14 since then. The new standard is indeed more modern.

At present, languages like C# and Java have encountered problems of bloated code and low efficiency. These languages are greatly restricted in embedded environments and cannot even be used. Therefore, Java has gradually declined, but why C++ has risen is a bit unexpected.
