Introduction to Several Common Laser Sensor Applications [Copy link]

Provide measurement and control solutions, solve measurement needs, and provide a solid data foundation for industrial automation production. This article introduces the application of four typical laser sensors.

Laser sensor: a sensor that uses laser technology for measurement. It consists of a laser, a laser detector, and a measuring circuit. Laser sensor is a new type of measuring instrument. Its advantages are that it can achieve non-contact long-distance measurement, fast speed, high accuracy, large range, and strong resistance to light and electrical interference.

1. 3D laser measurement sensor

The laser triangulation method is used for measurement. During measurement, the sensor emits a beam of laser to illuminate the surface of the object being measured, and the camera system in the sensor captures the image of the linear light spot on the surface of the object being measured. By analyzing the position of the light spot on the CCD or CMOS chip of the camera system, the coordinate dimensions of the linear light spot on the X-axis and Z-axis can be obtained.

2. Laser displacement sensor

Laser triangulation is used for measurement. During measurement, the laser emitted by the sensor illuminates the surface of the object being measured, and the camera system in the sensor captures the image of the light spot on the surface of the object being measured. By analyzing the position of the light spot on the CCD or CMOS chip of the camera system, the distance from the sensor to the surface of the object being measured can be obtained.

3. Laser ranging sensor

Phase measurement is adopted. The laser beam is amplitude modulated using the frequency of the radio band and the phase delay caused by the modulated light going back and forth on the measuring line is measured. Then, the distance represented by this phase delay is converted according to the wavelength of the modulated light.

4. Laser position sensor

The PSD chip is used to measure the position of the laser energy center. PSD is a junction photoelectric device made by ion implantation technology that can determine the position of the energy center of light. The sensor has high measurement accuracy, and the one-dimensional accuracy can be as high as 0.2um. In addition, there is no quadrant dividing line on the photosensitive surface of the chip, eliminating the measurement dead zone, and the spot position can be measured continuously.

Based on these four sensors, we have completed the research and development of various measuring instruments. Diameter gauges, width gauges, thickness gauges, inner hole straightness measuring instruments, bimetallic strip bending detectors, contour measuring instruments, inner diameter measuring instruments, weld tracking instruments, etc. are all testing equipment produced using laser measuring sensors, which are of great help to production.
