Let's talk about the specific applications of alumina ceramic substrates

In PCB proofing, alumina ceramic substrates have been widely used in many industries. However, in specific applications, the thickness and specifications of each alumina ceramic substrate are different. What is the reason?
1. The thickness of the alumina ceramic substrate is determined by the function of the product.
The thicker the alumina ceramic substrate, the better the strength and the stronger the pressure resistance, but the thermal conductivity is worse than the thinner one; conversely, the thinner the alumina ceramic substrate, the weaker the strength and pressure resistance, but the thermal conductivity is stronger than the thicker one. The thickness of the alumina ceramic substrate is generally 0.254mm, 0.385mm, and 1.0mm/2.0mm/3.0mm/4.0.mm, etc.
2. Alumina ceramic substrates have different specifications and sizes.
Generally, alumina ceramic substrates are much smaller than ordinary PCB boards. Their size is generally no larger than 120mmX120mm. Those exceeding this size generally need to be customized. In addition, the size of alumina ceramic substrates is not necessarily the larger the better. This is mainly because the substrate is made of ceramic. During the PCB proofing process, it is easy to cause the board to break, resulting in a lot of waste.
3. Different shapes of alumina ceramic substrates
Most alumina ceramic substrates are single-sided or double-sided, with rectangular, square and circular shapes. In PCB proofing, according to the process requirements, some also need to make grooves and dams on the ceramic substrate.
Does anyone know any other reasons? If so, let's discuss it together~
