TI's new automotive linear LED driver TPS92613-Q1 with enhanced heat dissipation [Copy link]

As LED taillights become mainstream, how to design safe and reliable LED driver circuits has become the primary task of major automotive lighting suppliers. Considering the complexity of the taillight application environment, from the perspective of electronic engineers, BCI testing, fault diagnosis, and heat dissipation are all issues that need to be addressed. Since linear LED driver chips have high constant current accuracy, full fault diagnosis functions, and good packaging and heat dissipation, they can solve the problems encountered by customers very well, which has made linear LED driver chips gradually replace discrete design solutions and become the mainstream.

TI recently launched the TPS92613-Q1 linear LED driver with outstanding heat dissipation capabilities. It uses a large package to optimize the chip's heat dissipation capabilities, providing a convenient and reliable integrated solution for high-current taillight applications (such as fog lights, reversing lights, brake lights, and turn signals).

TPS92613-Q1 is a single-channel high-side LED driver that supports LED Open/Short diagnostic capabilities and can achieve One-Fail-All-Fail function to effectively ensure system safety. It supports direct power supply from car batteries, simple solution design, and can reduce system costs.

The following test results highlight the excellent heat dissipation capabilities of the TPS92613-Q1:

Experimental prototype: TPS92613EVM

Input voltage: 12V

Output current: 300mA

Output load: 3 red LEDs

Ambient temperature: 25°C

The experimental results show that the maximum junction temperature of the chip is 69°C, and the overall temperature rise is maintained at a low level.
