Power Line Communication Simulation Reference Design for RS-485 [Copy link]

The reference design establishes a simulation model for RS-485 communications over power cables. This simulation model can be used to evaluate the feasibility of implementing RS485 communications at a given data rate, cable length, and load on a specific cable before performing the time-consuming steps to build a representative network. Procedures are provided to develop a cable model for any given cable and to replace the cable model in a simulation.


Simulation model demonstrates feasibility of 64kbps data rate using up to 1000 feet of cable and 128 total nodes Sanity
check performed against actual cable measurements
