The AD780 is an ultra-high precision voltage reference with excellent output stability over temperature, load, and line conditions. Integrated devices such as the AD8210 simplify high-side current monitoring by providing a high voltage interface and the ability to perform bidirectional current monitoring across a shunt resistor. It features high common-mode rejection (CMR) and excellent temperature performance for optimal accuracy in the application. The device amplifies the current flowing through the shunt resistor to the load and provides a ground-referenced output voltage proportional to the load current. In dual-supply applications, the output of the AD8210 can drive a precision, low-distortion difference amplifier such as the AD8274, as shown in the following figure. The AD8274 provides additional gain and level-shifts the AD8210 output centered around the desired output common-mode voltage, which facilitates interfacing with other circuit elements using dual supplies. The AD780 precision voltage reference provides a 2.5 V reference voltage that enables the AD8210 to perform bidirectional current monitoring and also provides the reference voltage for the level shifting function of the AD8274.
