The MAXREFDES117# reference design is a low-power, optical heart rate module with integrated red and infrared (IR) LEDs and power supply. The tiny circuit board is ideal for wearable projects, which can be worn on fingertips or earlobes to detect heart rate with high accuracy. This universal module supports both Arduino and mbed platforms, facilitating rapid testing, development and system debugging. Basic, open source heart rate and SpO2 algorithms are provided in the sample firmware .
The board features 8 sewing pads for mounting and quick connection to the development platform.
As with all Maxim reference designs, the Design Resources tab provides BOMs, schematics, layout files, and Gerber files. Additionally, there are circuit boards available for purchase.
