DER-596 - 15 W universal input LED driver for T8 tubes

This engineering report describes a low-cost, non-dimmable, non-isolated buck-boost LED driver designed to drive an 80 V LED load at 188 mA output current over an input voltage range of 100 VAC to 277 VAC. . LYT5216D of LYTSwitch-5 series is used for this LED driver. LYTSwitch-5 is a family of low-cost single-stage LED drivers with power factor correction and integrated high-voltage MOSFETs in the SO-8 controller IC. LYTSwitch-5 devices provide high efficiency, high power factor and accurate LED output current regulation. The IC also features integrated protection features such as accurate output overvoltage protection (OVP), thermal foldback overtemperature protection using junction thermal sensing, low input power output short circuit protection, and overcurrent protection (OCP). High efficiency, precise constant current regulation, electronic and magnetic ballast compatibility, and low component count are targeted design goals.
