High-input-voltage, high-current output buck controller reference design using the MAX15046

 
Overview

The reference design provides the circuit schematic ( Figure 1 ), bill of materials ( Table 1 ), and characteristics ( Figure 2–7 ). The key specifications of the MAX15046 are as follows.

Design specifications and configurations

  • Input voltage: 18V to 36V

  • Output voltage: 1.2V

  • Output current: 13.4A

  • Output voltage ripple: 12mV P-P

  • Input voltage ripple: 180mV P-P

  • Switching frequency: 250kHz

  • Efficiency: 82% when V IN = 18V, 13.4A output current; 74% when V IN = 36V, 13.4A output current
