The IP3259 series of Ingenic has built-in high-precision voltage detection circuit and delay circuit, and is an IC for protecting 3/4/5 series lithium-ion and polymer rechargeable batteries. The IP3259 has built-in battery charge balancing function, which effectively reduces the battery voltage mismatch caused by inconsistent battery parameters and aging, and prolongs the battery life. The chip also has built-in charging and discharging NTC high and low temperature protection function. The number of protected battery cells can be increased by chip cascading.
Ingenic IP3267
The IP3267 series of Ingenic has built-in high-precision voltage detection circuits and delay circuits. It is an IC for protecting 5-10 series lithium-ion, polymer and lithium iron phosphate rechargeable batteries. The IP3267 has built-in high-precision detection circuits, supporting overvoltage, undervoltage, three-stage over-discharge current protection, charging overcurrent protection, disconnection detection protection and battery balancing functions. The built-in balancing circuit can achieve battery charge and discharge balancing without any peripheral components, and can also expand the MOS tube to increase the balancing current. The IP3267 has built-in charge and discharge NTC detection circuits to protect the battery from high and low temperatures.
ETA Yutai
Yutai Semiconductor has launched a battery balancing chip for multi-string lithium battery applications.
Yutai ETA3001
Yutai ETA3001 is an inductive battery balancer in DFN2x2 package. Unlike traditional passive balancing technology, the chip uses a control scheme with an inductor to stir the current between the two cells until the cells reach balance. Due to the switching characteristics, the heat and power loss generated by traditional linear balancing technology are greatly reduced; due to the higher balancing current not limited by package heat dissipation, the balancing time is also significantly shortened.
The ETA3001 consumes only 2uA of ultra-low current from the battery in standby mode, extending the storage time of the battery. The final balanced voltage of the two batteries is also very accurate, which improves the performance and life of the series-connected batteries. The ETA3001 can also be used for multiple cell stacks with an even number of cells. The ETA3001 has a protection function similar to pre-conditioning in battery charging, that is, when the voltage of one battery is significantly lower than that of the other, the balancing current is reduced to a safe level until the battery with the lower voltage is charged.
