Let's discuss whether GaN materials are a key technology in 5G applications. [Copy link]

The construction of 5G needs to consider factors such as cost, reliability, and performance. Traditional materials have limitations compared to GaN. For example, the characteristics of GaN materials themselves allow them to have characteristics such as high reliability, high bandwidth, and support for higher frequencies. If you want to achieve the same performance indicators, the size of GaN devices will be much smaller than that of other materials. In other words, the size and cost of products built with GaN devices will decrease, and the efficiency of the entire machine will be greatly improved. The size of the entire device becomes smaller, and it is also easier to install on the tower.

The above advantages brought by GaN cannot be achieved by other materials. Therefore, GaN materials are of great significance in the application of 5G. In his speech "5G Key Technology: GaN", Mr. Huang Jing, Director of Application Marketing at Qorvo, disclosed the "magic use" of this chemical semiconductor in 5G.

I gained a lot after reading this article. I learned that in terms of design, different materials such as GaN, GaAs, SOI, etc. can be assembled together in the MCM mode according to different application scenarios as needed to provide highly integrated, small size, and low-cost solutions.

Small size, low cost, and high integration are what people always pursue. It seems that gallium nitride materials are key technologies in 5G applications. What do you think? Are there better materials that can replace gallium nitride materials?
