Angle, distance, speed, and motion direction detection can be done on one board. Infineon's FMCW radar solution Position2Go is here!

It uses a new RF transceiver and main control MCU, which improves performance while allowing users to implement and test a variety of sensing applications on the 24 GHz ISM band, such as tracking, collision avoidance, etc.; fast chirp FMCW and two receiving antennas are used to obtain angles, distances, speeds, and movement directions. It can be said that this is an easy-to-use, high-performance 24 GHz radar development kit.

This time, Infineon Technologies provided us with 5 Position2Go development boards for everyone to evaluate (thanks to Infineon for supporting our EEWorld forum evaluation activities!). Netizens who are interested in this board should quickly read the following application requirements and participate in the event!

Position2Go Introduction

Infineon Technologies XENSIV Position2Go Development Kit is a radar demonstration board based on the BGT24MTR12 Silicon Germanium 24GHz transceiver MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit). The Position2Go Development Kit enables users to implement and test several sensing applications such as tracking and collision avoidance systems in the 24GHz ISM band. With a fast linear frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar and two receiving antennas, the angle, distance, speed and direction of movement can be obtained. The Position2Go Development Kit includes an XMC4700 32-bit Arm Cortex -M4 microcontroller for signal processing and communication via USB. The Alpha-Beta tracking algorithm fully running on the XMC microcontroller allows tracking of multiple objects simultaneously.

The Position2Go board is pre-programmed with the Infineon DAVE development tool. The module features a split phase locked loop and is controlled by an XMC4700 MCU to generate the FMCW ramps required for distance measurement. The MCU samples up to 4 IF channels of the transceiver chipset and communicates with a networked PC via a USB interface. The included PC GUI (Graphical User Interface) application can be used to display and analyze the acquired data in both the time and frequency domains. The GUI allows extraction of the radar time domain signal for advanced debugging and algorithm development.
