Protel 99 SE and AD have copper holes and copper grooves [Copy link]

PROTEL's metal slot method:
It is emphasized that the drawing method in Figure 3 below is not advisable. This drawing method is inconsistent, such as the slot frame line (pink line), which is a layer of different board frame lines,
will miss the frame line and the finished product actually only has one hole.
It is recommended that Protel 99 SE design long slots using the following figure, using Pad to stack holes one by one into a long slot.
Although it takes some time to draw, this finished product is the effect you want. Due to the limitations of the software itself, please standardize the design according to the figure below.

AD can directly draw the slot as shown below:
This software can choose Slot design slot is very convenient, as shown below:

Emphasize Rect (please do not use square hole slots). Even if you draw it, the actual production operation will not meet the 90-degree right angle.

By default, the holes and grooves are elliptical (caused by the production process. The square holes and grooves in the picture are made by drilling. The drilling cutter and drill cutter have a diameter
(such as 1.6 mm and 1.8 mm). Therefore, the corners of the square hole will have a 45-degree fillet with a diameter of 1.6 mm or 1.8 mm).
The right angle is formed by a round cutter. The rest is not formed in place. The angle size formula is: hole size * 0.2

I have a deep understanding of this. Last time, the hole was square, but when I got it back, it was all round. It made me want to cry

May I ask how to set up a pad in AD without spraying tin? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The pad is not sprayed with tin? Do you mean dry empty?  Details Published on 2019-7-5 09:53

Whether using a drill or a milling cutter, the tool movement is actually rotation, so it is impossible to form a right angle.

What is dry air? The point I am talking about is not spraying tin and not covering oil. How to set it?  Details Published on 2019-7-5 15:29

Is it the effect like the left side of the picture below? (The right side of the picture is a normal pad)

Dry holes should be understood as non-metal holes. In the past, ADs were drawn on the keepout layer. After the new AD18, holes need to be drawn on the mechanical layer.

However, there are vias that are used this way, but pads are rarely used this way.

For those who use 99se software, it is recommended to use this method, which is simple and clear.
