Research organization Counterpoint recently released global smartphone market data for the second quarter of 2023. The global smartphone market has declined for eight consecutive quarters, but the high-end market has grown. According to statistics, global smartphone sales in Q2 2023 fell by 8% year-on-year and 5% month-on-month. Among them, Samsung ranks first with a market share of 22%, followed by Apple (17%), Xiaomi (12%), OPPO (10%), and vivo (8%).

Among them, Samsung leads the market with a 22% market share thanks to the excellent performance of the Galaxy A series in the world. Apple’s market share reached a record high in the second quarter.

Despite setbacks in the Indian market, Xiaomi still offsets the decline through a diverse product portfolio and global market expansion. Counterpoint said that the global smartphone market seems to have passed the rapid growth stage. Consumers’ replacement cycles are getting longer and longer, and device innovation is also becoming more homogeneous.

It is worth noting that, unlike the overall market for smartphones, the high-end market with unit prices above US$600 (4,303 yuan) continues to grow. This is because mature consumers pursue excellent experiences. In addition, high-end mobile phones in many regions have easy-to-obtain consumer prices. Financial Policy.

In terms of regions, the United States, Western Europe and Japan experienced the largest declines in smartphone sales, with Q2 declines exceeding 10%. Markets in China, India, the Middle East and Africa experienced smaller declines.
