Aovx G Series Tracker Devices Use Nordic nRF9160 SiP for LTE-M/NB-IoT Indoor and Outdoor Location Monitoring
OSLO, Norway – June 23, 2022 – Aovx, a Chinese company, has developed a set of equipment for tracking and monitoring goods, which can be used for applications such as fresh food, pharmaceutical storage or cold chain transportation.
The 121 x 61 x 8 mm ‘Aovx G Series’ tracker integrates multiple sensors, including a 3-axis accelerometer, light sensor, and temperature and humidity sensors, to monitor movement, vibration, tampering, delay, temperature and humidity of goods in storage or transport.
Nordic's integrated nRF9160 low-power SiP combines an LTE-M/NB-IoT modem and GNSS in a size of just 10 x 16 x 1 mm and is certified for global cellular IoT applications. The SiP provides LTE-M or NB-IoT cellular IoT connectivity for Aovx G-Series trackers to relay cargo tracking data to the cloud. The nRF9160 combines cellular network location data with GNSS trilateration data to enable accurate global indoor and outdoor location monitoring to support cargo tracking applications. The G-Series trackers also feature Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® Low Energy (Bluetooth LE) connectivity.
Each G-Series tracker device contains a rechargeable 2500 mAh lithium polymer battery, with up to one year of battery life at a daily reporting frequency, thanks in part to the nRF9160's excellent low-power characteristics. The SiP features PSM and eDRX power saving features to enable longer sleep times. For LTE-M and NB-IoT connections, the PSM floor current is as low as 2.7 µA. With an eDRX interval of 655 s, the average current for LTE-M is 6 µA and the average current for NB-IoT is 9 µA.
“We chose Nordic’s nRF9160 for our G-Series cargo tracking devices because of its compact size, low-power performance, and global network support,” said Wuzhou Guo, CEO of Yunxi Communications.
