Not long ago, sources in the semiconductor industry revealed that Apple’s component manufacturers and equipment assemblers may be forced to postpone the release of the iPhone 14 due to the impact of the epidemic.
It is reported that the factories of many of Apple's suppliers have been forced to shut down or are restricted to reduce production, and it may be difficult to ensure that the iPhone 14 series, which is about to be put into production, will be delivered on time.
However, according to the latest news from @36氪, the Wall Street Journal stated that Apple suppliers in Shanghai and surrounding areas, including Luxshare Precision and Wistron, have gradually resumed production.
"Almost all of the affected final assembly plants have now restarted," said Apple CEO Tim Cook. "We are encouraged that the number of reported Covid cases in Shanghai has decreased over the past few days."
According to a supplier list released by Apple last year, Shanghai and the surrounding provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang are among the regions with the highest concentration of Apple's top suppliers.
The list shows that 31 companies in Shanghai operate factories that supply Apple, while there are 79 in Jiangsu province and seven in Zhejiang province.
However, Cook also frankly revealed that although almost all suppliers have resumed work, it will take some time for these factories to return to standard production levels.
Cook did not give any positive response to whether it would affect the release of iPhone 14.
According to normal product planning, the iPhone 14 will be officially released in September this year, usually on the second or third Tuesday of September.
