Sony's PS5 console has been released for more than a year. Due to reasons such as chip production capacity, it is still in short supply. However, many people seem to be looking forward to the half-generation updated PS5 Pro. Sony has also been found to have delivered thousands of prototypes to game developers in the past few months, and there are more and more clues about the PS5 Pro.
Tweaktown website quoted sources as saying that Sony has shipped thousands of development kits to developers in the United States in the past few months, with most of the goods coming from South Korea and Japan.
In addition, other import and export lists show that Sony exported a batch of video game console prototypes from the UK to the United States in November last year.
What exactly these products delivered by Sony are has sparked speculation. If they are PS5 game consoles, the imported quantity is a bit small, and it is unlikely that they will come with prototype instructions, so some people speculate that these are Sony's PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim prototypes.
Of course, these speculations are difficult to confirm, but judging from the timing, Sony may indeed start testing the PS5 Pro console this year. Its performance will be more powerful than the current PS5, and previous news said it can run 8K games.
The current PS5 is equipped with an Oberon chip customized from AMD, a 7nm process, an 8-core Zen2 CPU + RDNA2 GPU architecture, a maximum frequency of 3.5GHz, a GPU with 36 integrated CU units, a maximum frequency of 2.23GHz, a floating-point performance of 10.3TFLOPS, and a total of more than 1 billion transistors integrated.
PS Pro is expected to be released between 2023 and 2024. If upgraded, the CPU may be 6nm Zen3+ or the more radical 5nm Zen4, and the GPU will be upgraded to RDNA3, which will be larger in scale.
