When communicating with technology media Verge a few days ago, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon made it clear that the next-generation flagship processor after Snapdragon 8 Gen1 is Snapdragon 8 Gen2.
He explained that the reason for canceling the three-digit name of the Snapdragon 8 series chips is to simplify consumers' understanding. That is, there is no need to identify or confirm the size of the number, but only to know the generation. Snapdragon 8 is synonymous with flagship.
However, this also means that in the Chinese context, Snapdragon 8 Gen2 is still the latest generation of Snapdragon 8, and should not be called the second generation. Perhaps people will add a prefix of 2022/2023 for the convenience of distinction.
Regarding products that have not yet been released, Amon also reiterated that the PC processors designed by the acquired Nuvia team will be sampled in 2022 and commercially available in 2023. He said that Nuvia is Qualcomm's best CPU design team.
Amon pointed out that the goal of this processor is to regain the advantage in performance, and at the same time, it not only has good performance in entertainment scenarios, but can also serve business or enterprise-level needs. Of course, he did not specify here, and it is speculated that it should be referring to professional scenarios, such as video editing, photo post-production, music production, etc., which is to match Apple Mac.
