Synaptics today released a new beta version of DisplayLink Manager for macOS that supports the long-awaited external screen rotation on M1 Macs. A company representative said that if the beta test is successful, the final version is planned to be released in late December.
DisplayLink adapters have proven popular with M1 models of the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro because they allow multiple external screens to be connected, even though Apple's technical specifications indicate these laptops only support one external screen.
DisplayLink Manager helps users set up external monitors via DisplayLink.
As you can see in the screenshot above, the new version of DisplayLink Manager allows external screens to be connected to an M1 Mac with a DisplayLink adapter or dock, in both landscape and portrait orientation.
DisplayLink Manager 1.6 beta is compatible with all macOS Monterey and macOS Big Sur versions and can be downloaded free of charge from the Synaptics website.
