In December 2020, Qualcomm released the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 flagship processor. Samsung, iQOO, vivo and other mobile phone manufacturers have used it in their flagship models. Now Snapdragon 888 has become one of the standard features of flagship mobile phones. After half a year, Qualcomm once again released its latest processor-Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus. As can be seen from the name, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus is an upgraded version of Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 and is known as "the most powerful mobile phone chip in history."

It is reported that Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus is built based on Samsung's 5nm process and still uses the three-cluster architecture of CortexX1 super core, CortexA78 large core and CortexA55. The main frequency of the super core CPU is increased from 2.84GHz of Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 to nearly 3.0GHz. There are also 3 2.4GHz CortexA78 and 4 1.8GHz CortexA55 energy-efficient cores. The GPU is still Adreno660, and the performance is expected to increase by about 5%.

In addition, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus has greatly improved AI performance. It is equipped with Qualcomm's sixth-generation AIEngine engine, and its AI computing power reaches 32TOPS. The AI performance has been improved by more than 20%, which is better than the 26 TOPS on Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, and can have better performance in AI photography.

Continuing the previous high attention to Snapdragon 888, mobile phone manufacturers such as ASUS, Honor, and vivo have stated that they are developing products based on Snapdragon 888 Plus, and the first batch of products are expected to be officially released in the third quarter of this year.

There are also reports that the latest products of Honor and ROG may be the first to be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus chips. Honor may be the previously rumored Honor Magic 3 phone, which is aimed at the current top flagship model in terms of configuration and positioning. ROG may use it in a slightly upgraded version of this year's ROG gaming phone 5. Both models are worth looking forward to!
