According to Jiwei.com, this year's two high-end models in Apple's iPhone 13 series will use LTPO TFT OLED panels and rigid-flex PCBs (RFPCBs), which will be supplied by Samsung Display and Samsung Electro-Mechanics respectively.
According to Korean media THE ELEC, two high-end models in the iPhone 13 series will use RFPCB supplied by Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Bhflex, and the remaining two models will use multi-channel FPCB.
Compared with FPCB, RFPCB has the characteristics of both soft and hard boards, is easy to fold, has more convenient design, and faster electrical signal transmission.
In addition, South Korean PCB manufacturer Youngpoong Electronics is also expected to supply RFPCB to Apple through Samsung Display.
Youngpoong joined Apple's supply chain because Samsung Electro-Mechanics may still exit the RFPCB market after the launch of iPhone 13.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has not made any profit from the RFPCB business in the past few years. The company considered withdrawing from the RFPCB business last year, and there have been numerous speculations in the market about which company will enter Apple's supply chain. As a bellwether of the smartphone industry, Apple will benefit suppliers to a certain extent.
