Jiwei.com reported on April 9 that Meizu Technology's official Weibo account announced yesterday that the Meizu 18 series will enable restricted app tracking by default. The official said that it was not easy to make this decision. However, they still hope to return this right to users. Apps must obtain authorization before tracking or accessing the user's device advertising identifier to better protect user privacy.

Meizu employee @布鲁卡 also explained why the Meizu 18 series will have restricted app tracking enabled by default. He said that the app tracking mechanism on Android refers to a set of OAIDs developed by domestic manufacturers, which is enabled by default. Apps will communicate with each other based on this interface to push personalized advertising content, but it is difficult to turn it off by default because it involves the interests of developers. Software parties naturally have the right to obtain permissions when placing advertisements in stores, and need to balance and negotiate among users/developers/platforms.

Finally, let’s talk about the Meizu 18 series, which includes two mobile phones, Meizu 18 and Meizu 18 Pro. Their details are as follows:

First is the Meizu 18, which uses a 6.2-inch Samsung Super AMOLED centered hole-punch screen, E4 luminous material, diamond arrangement, 15% reduced power consumption, peak brightness of 1300nits, and also supports HDR10+, 4096-level brightness adjustment, supports 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate, and has passed the SGS low blue light certification.

The Meizu 18 is equipped with a combination of Snapdragon 888+full-blood LPDDR5+UFS3.1, supports OneMind 5.0, is equipped with a 4000mAh capacity battery, supports 36W Super mCharge fast charging, and can charge up to 30W fast charging with the screen on. It can be charged to 80% in 33 minutes. It has a 20-megapixel front selfie camera and a rear 64-megapixel main camera + 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle + 8-megapixel telephoto lens combination. It is pre-installed with Flyme 9 which is deeply customized based on Android 11. It has features such as horizontal linear motor, full-function NFC, dual speakers, and ultrasonic under-screen fingerprint. The body is available in three colors: Stepping on Snow, Waiting for the Wind, and Crossing the Sea.

Next is the Meizu 18 Pro, which uses a 6.7-inch SuperAMOLED centered hole-punch screen. Other parameters are basically the same as the Meizu 18. The main differences are in photography, charging, and color matching.

The Meizu 18 Pro has a 44-megapixel front lens and a rear quad-camera combination of 50-megapixel main camera (GN1) + 32-megapixel ultra-wide-angle/macro + 8-megapixel telephoto + 3D depth sensing.
