On February 26, as early as 2019, Samsung and AMD officially reached a multi-year strategic cooperation, and the two parties will seek more development in the fields of ultra-low power consumption and image processing.
Recently, there have been reports that Samsung will launch a new generation of Exynos SoC based on ARM chips in June this year, and will use it to build a Windows 10 laptop based on ARM architecture.
It is understood that Qualcomm is the only chip manufacturer suitable for the Windows 10 ARM platform, and the only other chip manufacturer capable of designing ARM chips for PCs is Apple. Apple has now gradually transitioned from Intel processors to its own Apple Silicon chips.
This time, Samsung launched an ARM architecture-based laptop to compete with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx.
It is reported that Samsung has released Windows 10 computers based on the ARM platform, such as Galaxy Book S and Galaxy Book2, but these computers are all equipped with Qualcomm processors.
According to reports, the new generation of Exynos SoC will be based on Samsung's latest Exynos 2100 design and may be built using a 5nm process technology.
The Samsung Exynos 2100 is built using Samsung's latest 5nm EUV process, equipped with 1 Cortex-X1 super core with a main frequency of 2.9GHz, and supplemented by 3 2.8GHz A78 large cores and 4 2.2GHz A55 small cores.
I believe that with the excellent heat dissipation capabilities of the PC, the performance of this chip will be stronger than that of the mobile terminal.
However, Qualcomm is not without a solution.
Not long ago, Qualcomm was exposed to a processor code-named SC8280.
It is reported that this processor will be an upgraded product of Snapdragon 8cx and 8cx Gen 2. Through the test system data, it was found that the Snapdragon SC8280 PC processor will be equipped with more than 8 cores and measure 20x17 mm.
Although there is no detailed configuration information of the new Samsung notebook at present, it is expected to be a notebook computer manufactured entirely by Samsung, which is worth looking forward to.
