On January 12, according to The Paper, some workshops of Foxconn's Shenzhen factory are about to enter the first stage of iPhone 13 proofing. It is understood that proofing is generally divided into design modules, corrections, finalization, and mass production, and it usually takes 9 months from proofing to mass production.
Apple usually releases a new generation of iPhone in September every year. Last year, due to the tight supply chain caused by the epidemic, the release and listing of the entire iPhone 12 series was delayed by more than a month compared with previous years. However, according to news from the supply chain this year, the probability of the new iPhone being delayed again is not high, and the new iPhone will be released again in September.
According to leaks, the iPhone 13 will continue the four-model strategy. The appearance will not change much, but the performance will be further improved, including the Pro series may adopt a high refresh rate screen and non-Pro models will be equipped with a LiDAR scanner.
According to The Paper, citing an insider, some workshops in the Guanlan plant in Shenzhen will stop producing iPhone 12 one after another. "The Zhengzhou plant will continue to produce iPhone 12, and the Pro series will also be produced in the Shenzhen plant. The Guanlan plant is mainly engaged in research and development and production of a small number of products, which will generally be promoted to other plants for production after research and development."
Foxconn did not respond to the report.
