On January 3, LG Display announced that it will showcase a new 48-inch bendable cinematic sound OLED screen during the 2021 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2021) to be held on January 11.
LG Display is currently the only company in the world that mass-produces transparent OLEDs. Transparent OLEDs do not require a backlight source and can increase their transparency to 40% by taking advantage of their self-luminescence. The transparency of transparent LCDs is only 10%, but transparent OLEDs can provide clear and transparent images like glass.
According to reports, this "paper-thin" display can be bent to a curvature radius of 1000 mm and still provide "uniform viewing distance from the middle to the edge of the screen." LG Display said that OLED screens like this have a "response time of 0.1 milliseconds (ms), a refresh rate of 120Hz per second, and a wide variable refresh rate range from 40Hz to 120Hz."
Dr. Chang-ho Oh, Executive Vice President and Head of TV Business Division at LG Display, said, “LG Display’s 48-inch Bendable CSO display is optimized for gaming as it maximizes the use of advanced technologies to produce another level in providing an immersive experience. In other words, it provides gamers with the best gaming environment possible.”
