It is reported that Apple has recently begun testing a foldable iPhone at the Foxconn factory in Shenzhen, and it may not be unveiled until 2022 at the earliest.
According to leaked information, Apple is testing two new devices, one of which is a dual-screen model, not a folding screen; the other is a folding screen similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip or Motorola RAZR. The shells of these two new devices are being tested at Foxconn's Shenzhen factory, but they are not complete smartphones yet, they are only used to test the durability of the folding hinge.
According to Apple’s previous strategies, the company will not be a pioneer in new technologies, but once it enters a certain field, the devices it launches will perform very well, such as the 5G iPhone, true wireless headphones AirPods, etc.
There have been reports before that Apple is building a fairly perfect iPhone, which has no bangs and a large enough screen. It is the foldable version of the iPhone, which is expected to be released in 2022 and the starting price is US$1,499, which is more than 10,000 yuan.
According to previous information, the company may have sourced foldable screens from Samsung, most likely to test the quality first. It has not yet been confirmed which display technology Apple intends to use on its foldable iPhone, but if everything goes according to plan, the switch to micrOLED could take around three to four years.
