Starting in the first quarter, we will have the first round of flagship devices for next year, including the OnePlus 9 series from OnePlus. As usual, we will definitely have the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro, although there was also a rumor about a OnePlus 9E. According to a report from Android Central, the third device appears to be the OnePlus 9 Lite.
The report also stated that the OnePlus 9 Lite will not use the Snapdragon 888 of the high-end models, but will use the Snapdragon 865 chipset like the OnePlus 8 and 8T series.
While this is all we know about the OnePlus 9 Lite, a good guess is that it will introduce new features while using an older chipset. For example, we might see new displays, cameras, or Warp Charge features in the OnePlus 9, which may appear on the OnePlus 9 Lite, but it obviously won't have the performance of the Snapdragon 888.
OnePlus has always focused on performance and smooth operation, but this has changed in the past year. In its high-end flagship products, it still brings the fastest chips, the most RAM and the fastest storage space, but the company has increasingly focused on cultivating the mid-range market.
The Nord is the company’s first-ever device that doesn’t feature a Snapdragon 8-series chipset. It even has lower-end Nord N10 5G with a Snapdragon 690 and Nord N100 models with a Snapdragon 460. The brand once known for being a flagship killer is now taking a more Samsung-like route, making devices for everyone at every price point.
