According to Taiwan's Economic Daily News, PC brand Asus has benefited from the demand for distance learning and working from home, and its notebook computer business has continued to grow. Its revenue in November achieved double-digit growth, up 0.4% from the previous month. However, Asus pointed out that due to the supply restrictions of parts in the fourth quarter, the supply gap of computer products is as high as 30%, and the demand may continue into the next quarter.
ASUS announced today (9th) that its November revenue was NT$39.749 billion, up 0.4% from the previous month and 14.9% from the previous year. The brand revenue in November was NT$36.7 billion, up 17% from the previous year. The total consolidated revenue for the first 11 months of this year was NT$369.807 billion, up 16.1% from the previous year.
ASUS pointed out that due to the limited supply of components in the fourth quarter, the supply gap of computer products reached nearly 30%, and the demand may continue into the subsequent quarters. However, ASUS will continue to adhere to user-centric products, sales and services, and actively achieve its 2021 operational growth goals.
The report pointed out that as the epidemic in Europe and the United States continues, the demand for working from home and distance learning continues, which also makes notebook manufacturers such as Acer and Asus optimistic about operations in the fourth quarter of this year. However, due to the shortage of components, it will have a negative impact on revenue.
ASUS's third quarter operations this year set a new quarterly record, but due to the continued shortage of components, ASUS expects that shipments of notebook computers, components and peripheral products in the fourth quarter will decrease by 10% quarter-on-quarter, but will increase by 20% and 40% respectively compared with the same period last year.
ASUS co-CEO Hsu Xian-yueh also previously pointed out that end-customer demand for laptops is strong, and coupled with the current low inventory levels of dealers, laptop orders have been seen in the second quarter of 2021.
