Alight issued an announcement stating that the company plans to use 5 million yuan of over-subscribed funds to invest in the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary in Japan, "Jilin OLED Japan Research Institute Co., Ltd." (the company name is subject to the final approval of the Japanese Legal Affairs Bureau). The company will invest in the construction of a research and development platform and implement the "OLED printed luminescent material research and development project."

The announcement shows that the project mainly involves the research and development of OLED printed luminescent materials and the research on key application directions for industrialization, and gradually realizes the innovation of key product research and development and key technologies. The project involves the establishment of a research and development laboratory, an analysis and testing center, and a material evaluation center. The overall laboratory and supporting functional areas total about 300 square meters, which is a site leased by the company. In addition, the equipment invested involves research and development, synthesis, purification, analysis and testing equipment.

It is understood that the China Securities Regulatory Commission issued the "Approval on the Registration of the Initial Public Offering of Jilin Aolaide Optoelectronic Materials Co., Ltd." (Zhengjian License [2020] No. 1658) on August 4, 2020, approving the company to issue 18,284,200 ordinary shares in RMB to the public for the first time, with a par value of RMB 1.00 per share and an issue price of RMB 62.57 per share. The total amount of funds raised is RMB 1,144,042,394.00. After deducting the issuance fee of RMB 83,803,993.63 (excluding VAT), the net amount of funds raised by the company this time is RMB 1,060,238,400.37. As of August 28, 2020, all the above-mentioned funds have been in place.

After deducting the issuance expenses, the funds raised by Alight will be used for the annual production of 10,000 kilograms of high-performance light-emitting materials for AMOLED and AMOLED light-emitting material research and development projects, new high-efficiency OLED optoelectronic material research and development projects and new high-generation evaporation source research and development projects.

As the third generation of new display technology, OLED is one of the most rapidly developing and promising technologies in the current mainstream display technology. Printed OLED technology not only improves the efficiency of light-emitting materials and shortens manufacturing time, but also reduces costs and enables flexible and large-size displays. Therefore, it has attracted many panel manufacturers at home and abroad to compete for layout.

In line with the development trend of display technology, the development of soluble OLED materials is still the key link and technical innovation competition point for the realization of printed OLED technology. Building an industrial technology ecosystem around the core links of key technology development and industrial application of printed display materials, establishing first-mover advantages in patents, technology and processes, and establishing core technology competitiveness in the field of new displays will help my country occupy the technical commanding heights in the field of new generation printed OLED.

To address the problems of complex molecular structure, long synthesis process, difficulty in mass production, high raw material cost and commercialization of OLED printed light-emitting materials, Alight's new project introduces advanced Japanese material technology, designs and develops new material structures, introduces solubilizing groups, and studies the formulation and printing process of printing inks for each functional layer. By designing simplified synthesis methods and optimizing and reducing synthesis steps, Alight achieves low-cost batch synthesis and preparation technology for OLED printed functional materials.

Aoled said that the company, based on its existing main business and core technology, on the basis of existing patented product technology, will innovate the material system according to the industrial application market, obtain OLED printed light-emitting materials with independent intellectual property rights, improve the construction of the company's OLED material system, break the technological blockade of foreign companies, break through technological barriers, and enhance the core competitiveness of my country's upstream materials in the international field.

By implementing this R&D project, Alight will leverage Japan's accumulated technological advantages in new materials to make good technical reserves for OLED printed luminescent materials and other core materials, which will ensure the company's long-term technological competitiveness. At the same time, it will further complete the exploration of new technology routes, further optimize production processes, reduce production costs, improve the company's competitive advantage in the industry, and strengthen the company's ability to resist risks.
