Apple pointed out in a support document released this week that the iPhone 12 series smartphones will usher in iOS system software updates with 5G functions, but some users may need to enable it manually. One improvement mentioned in the document is related to the "5G Data Mode" of the iPhone 12. After the update, users can specify three modes in the settings interface, namely "Allow More 5G Data", "Standard", and "Low Data Volume" modes.
Obviously, users can set different data modes according to their needs. In addition, if you choose a contract phone + and subscribe to some unlimited data traffic packages, you can also directly apply the default settings specified by the operator.
If more 5G data is allowed to be consumed on mobile data networks, users can not only get a better experience in FaceTime calls, HD video/audio, etc., but also unleash the "enhanced experience" of third-party apps.
Apple notes that most carriers will choose the 'Standard' data mode to allow automatic updates and background tasks over cellular networks, but this will compromise FaceTime and HD audio and video experience.
As for 'Low Data' mode, it will pause automatic updates and background tasks to minimize data consumption on Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
Although Apple did not specify which carriers in the United States will enable "Allow more 5G data" by default on the iPhone 12, Verizon's internal support documents have confirmed this.
It is reported that the iPhone 12/12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro/12 Pro Max released this month are Apple’s first new devices to support 5G mobile networks.
