China Telecom announces IoT users surpass 200 million

Recently, China Telecom’s official Weibo account announced a good news, that is, the number of China Telecom’s Internet of Things users has exceeded 200 million, of which the scale of NB-IoT is nearly 70 million, the number of NB-IoT connections ranks first in the world, and the NB market share ranks first in the industry.

At the same time, the number of terminals connected to China Telecom's IoT open platform exceeded 30 million, the number of terminal adaptation types exceeded 1,000, and the number of IoT developers gathered exceeded 30,000.

China Telecom also listed its achievements in specific IoT areas, such as China Telecom's NB-IoT smart water meter connections of nearly 15 million, China Telecom's NB-IoT smart gas connections of over 15 million, becoming the world's first NB-IoT application to exceed 10 million.

In addition, China Telecom also talked about the contribution of the Internet of Things to society. For example, China Telecom's NB-IoT technology has helped many home appliance companies complete their digital transformation. Among them, more than 100,000 NB-IoT shared washing machines across the country have been ordered through China Telecom's high-quality Internet of Things services, with a success rate of over 99.9%. China Telecom has promoted and implemented smart street lights based on 5G Internet of Things technology in many places across the country, and has realized intelligent dimming, power reduction, on-demand switching of lights and other management, which can reduce excessive lighting and save 30% to 60% of electricity.

Officials said that China Telecom's IoT users cover public utilities, Internet of Vehicles, retail services, smart homes, industrial IoT, smart logistics and other industries, especially in public utilities such as water and gas, where it has achieved industry leadership. This also reflects that China Telecom's IoT is playing the role of a "main force of central enterprises" in serving society and people's livelihood, helping people's needs for a better life, improving social governance capabilities, and promoting industrial digital transformation.
