According to foreign media reports, Google has applied to the US government, hoping to continue to cooperate with Huawei and provide GMS mobile services for Huawei smartphones. Although Google has not made any statement on when a decision can be made on the application, the news has attracted great attention from the industry.

After Huawei was blacklisted by the US government in mid-May 2019, Huawei did not use Google applications on its new smartphone models. According to the ban, all non-open source Google software products are not allowed to be pre-installed on Huawei phones. Although the core part of the Android operating system (AOSP, sometimes also called the public version of Android) is open source software, non-open source application software such as GMAIL, Google Maps, Google PLAY Store, and Google Framework Services require Google authorization.

At the end of last year, Microsoft obtained permission from the US Department of Commerce to export consumer software to Huawei, which brought hope to Google. After obtaining the license, Huawei's notebook computers can continue to be built-in with Microsoft's Windows operating system and office software services such as Office 365.
